Tulip Lab

Scientific tracking for cut and garden tulips: bulb reserves, rooting, uniform emergence, flowering calendar, stem, color and postharvest. A laboratory designed for a plant whose result depends heavily on what happened before it reached you.

Here we start with the uncomfortable truth: in the tulip, the bulb rules. We explain what we can move, what we can't, and how to check it with your own control plants.

What it is

What Tulips Lab is and who it is for

Tulips Lab is Yolia's laboratory for the world's best-known bulb plant. When you choose this specialty, the engine offers the tulip's own goals (bulb reserves, rooting, uniform emergence and flowering calendar, among others), strengthens flowering, pigments, structural calcium and silicon, and reads the climate of your location to order what is done and when.

You receive a process: diagnosis, phased strategy, a formula made with preparations that you make yourself (ferments, infusions and teas from common ingredients), a logbook with control plants and recalibrations when the evidence justifies it. You do not receive a bottled product or a promise of out-of-season flowering.

It's for you if…

You grow cut tulips in batches and need the shoots to come up evenly and the stems to be firm.
You manage a calendar of sale dates and want a system that respects the plant's real stage.
You have a garden or a collection and want the plant to recover reserves after flowering.
You accept that part of the result is already decided by the bulb and you want to work on what can be moved.
You are willing to keep a logbook and compare against control plants.

It's not for you if…

You expect a formula to make up for small, damaged or poorly stored bulbs: it can't.
You want to advance or delay flowering on its own: that is driven by the temperature you manage.
Your biggest problem is in the cold room or the cold chain: Yolia does not control that.
You want a ready-to-apply product, with nothing to prepare.
Necesitas garantía de resultado.
Ciencia explicada fácil

The bulb is in charge: what happens inside a tulip and where Yolia can help

The tulip is a bulb plant. In general terms, the flower already comes formed inside the bulb before you plant it, and the bulb holds almost all the reserves the plant will use to root, stretch the stem and open the flower. That is why the size and quality of the bulb, and the cold it received, weigh more than almost anything applied afterward.

In forced cut-tulip cultivation, a controlled cold period is used to break dormancy and synchronize flowering; afterward the crop moves to growing temperature. If the cold was insufficient or the emergence comes out uneven, short stems or out-of-phase flowering appear. That cold stage happens before Yolia comes into action, and we do not control it.

What is left for Yolia is the window between planting and cutting: rooting well (the root must develop before the stem stretches), sustaining stem firmness, maintaining stable hydration, reducing temperature stress and ordering the calendar with the real stage. Tulips Lab is, by nature, one of the laboratories where being honest matters most: the ceiling already comes in the bulb.

What comes already decided

The size and quality of the bulb.
The cold it received before reaching you.
La variedad: color base, altura y forma.
The flower, which already comes formed inside the bulb.

What Yolia can modulate

How well the bulb roots before stretching the stem.
How evenly the sprouts emerge across the batch.
The firmness and structure of the stem.
Hydration and recovery from temperature stress.
The application schedule, adjusted to the real stage and not to the calendar date.
Targets

The 9 goals of the Tulips Laboratory, one by one

Each objective is explained with four things: what it means, how the engine works it, what is worth noting in your logbook and where the honest limit lies. A real case activates 1 to 4 objectives at a time, not all of them: more objectives is not better, because they compete for the same plant resources.

01

Bulb reserves

What it is. The bulb's reserves (starch and sugars) feed the root, stem and flower throughout the cycle.

Cómo lo trabajamos. Yolia cannot add reserves to a bulb that has already been harvested. What it does is help the plant use them well (a root that absorbs and supporting energy with modules such as XA-05, carrot and rice: stable reserve sugars) and, in the garden or bulb production, help it refill the bulb after the flower.

What to write in your logbook. Circumference or weight of the bulb before planting and, if you recover it, after the cycle; vigor from 1 to 5.

Límite honesto. In forced cut tulips, the bulb is usually used only once: this goal matters most in gardens, collections, and bulb production.

02

Rooting

What it is. A well-developed root before the stem stretches.

Cómo lo trabajamos. At the rooting stage the engine takes the root to its highest priority (1.50) and reinforces phosphorus and zinc. Modules such as F-03 (seeds, pumpkin seed and amaranth) and XA-06 (root electrolytes with watermelon and cucumber) support an active root.

What to write in your logbook. White, firm roots visible in a sample, and the moment they appear.

Límite honesto. Waterlogged, oxygen-starved or overly hot growing medium ruins rooting. With oxygen-starved roots, the system blocks retention and biofilm and first asks you to correct the management.

03

Uniform emergence

What it is. So that the sprouts emerge evenly, so the batch can be cut together.

Cómo lo trabajamos. The engine uses a moderate starter nitrogen, supports the root, and spreads tracking with control plants across each sector. The formula is calculated for your exact number of plants.

What to write in your logbook. Percentage of sprouts emerged on three fixed dates (for example, at 7, 14 and 21 days), by sector.

Límite honesto. Uniformity depends on an even bulb size and uniform substrate temperature; the formula does not fix an uneven batch.

04

Flowering calendar

What it is. Reaching flowering on the date you need, neither early nor late.

Cómo lo trabajamos. The engine reads the stage you declare and the climate of your location. If the stage is behind schedule relative to the calendar, the safe option is to reorganize timing and avoid applying out of stage. It is the example case you will see below.

What to write in your logbook. Planting, emergence, visible bud and cutting dates, along with the recorded temperatures.

Límite honesto. Yolia does not control the temperature of your chamber or greenhouse, which is what moves the schedule most. It does not advance or delay a flower on its own.

05

Stem and structure

What it is. A firm stem that holds the flower up without bending or falling.

Cómo lo trabajamos. Structural calcium and plant silicon, functions that the engine rewards together. Examples: XB-10 (bioavailable calcium by maceration), F-11 (apple cider vinegar with toasted eggshell) and T-22 (horsetail, a source of silicon). The literature associates stem drop in tulips with calcium, irrigation and temperature.

What to write in your logbook. Height, thickness and fallen or bent stems, with one side photo per week.

Límite honesto. Final height depends on the variety and the growing temperature; no formula changes that.

06

Flower development

What it is. So that the flower, which is already formed, develops fully and opens well.

Cómo lo trabajamos. Flowering, pollen and fruit set is the function with the most weight (1.45). During flowering, vegetative nitrogen is blocked. Example modules: F-17 (turbo flowering) and XB-08 (turbo-flower).

What to write in your logbook. Buds that dry out, incomplete openings and days from visible bud to open flower.

Límite honesto. Problems with buds that dry out or open poorly are usually related to temperature, light and ethylene, which are matters of crop management.

07

Color

What it is. Intense, stable color of the variety, without fading from heat.

Cómo lo trabajamos. Pigments and antioxidants have a weight of 1.30. Example modules: F-13 (beet, turmeric and sprouts) and F-02 (soluble sugars and antioxidants). With high radiation the engine adds light management.

What to write in your logbook. Photos with the same light, background and distance, compared against your control.

Límite honesto. The variety's color does not change. Excessive heat and radiation wear the color down more than a formula improves it.

08

Uniformity

What it is. So that the whole batch arrives even in height, color and cut date.

Cómo lo trabajamos. The formula is scaled to your number of plants and monitored with control plants spread across sectors. With sectors and more than 20 plants, the control plant target goes up to cover the batch better.

What to write in your logbook. The variation among control plants from different sectors in height and cut date.

Límite honesto. Depende de bulbos de calibre parejo y de riego y temperatura uniformes.

09

Postharvest life

What it is. So that the stem lasts longer after cutting.

Cómo lo trabajamos. On the crop side: stem firmness, hydration and a harvest at the right stage. Further down we explain what depends on us and what does not.

What to write in your logbook. Vase test: treated stems versus control stems cut the same day, with the days until petal drop.

Límite honesto. We do not promise a number of extra days. The tulip even keeps stretching in the vase and bends toward the light, something that depends on the plant, not on Yolia.

Do you already know which goal you want to work on in Tulips?

How the engine decides

What the engine prioritizes when the case is Tulips

When you choose Tulips, the engine raises these functions before building your formula. These are the real weights it uses for cut flowers.

Function the engine reinforcesPriorityWhat it is for, in simple language
Flowering, pollen and fruit set1.45Supports flower formation, pollen quality and the flower developing well.
Pigments and antioxidants1.30Support for color and the antioxidant defense of tissues.
Calcio estructural1.25Firmer cell walls: stems, petals and fruits with better structure.
Sabor, aroma y metabolitos1.20Aroma and flavor quality: secondary compounds the plant makes when it has energy and minerals.
Silicio vegetal1.15Tissue structure and strength (for example, against wind and high humidity).
Defensa biológica preventiva0.95Gentle, preventive support; it does not replace sanitary management.

Priority is a real relative weight of the engine: above 1.00 the function is reinforced, below 1.00 it is kept gentle. It is not an improvement percentage or a promise of results.

And the stage of your plant changes what gets prioritized

Before mixing anything, the engine reads the stage you declare. That is why the same plant gets a different strategy when rooting than when flowering.

StageWhat drives the engineQué evita o bloquea
GerminationRaíz y pelos absorbentes, fósforo y zinc de semillas, nitrógeno de arranque moderadoExcesos de nitrógeno

What is worth knowing (and noting) about your bulb

The formula can be perfect and the result can still be limited by the bulb. That is why we ask you to tell us its story: it is not bureaucracy, it is what best explains what you will see later.

Calibre y origen

Qué tan grande y de dónde viene

Bulb size is the best clue to how much reserve it carries. Write down the size, the supplier, and the variety in your logbook.

Frío recibido

La historia de frío

Record how much cold the batch received, at what temperature and who did it. It is what best explains uneven emergence.

Planting date and conditions

Cuándo y dónde se plantó

Date, substrate, temperature and watering. With that, the system can pinpoint the real stage rather than an assumed date.

Climate

How climate factors into the Tulips Laboratory

In tulips the climate weighs in two ways: the temperature of the growing cycle (which moves the calendar) and the heat, humidity or wind events near flowering. Yolia confirms your location, reads the 7-day forecast and the history, and evaluates your environment.

Condition the engine detectsUmbral realWhat functions it reinforces
Calor extremo y sequedadMaximum of 32 °C or more with little available waterElectrolytes and cellular hydration, drought defense, antioxidant pigments, radiation/PAR, root
Frío y riesgo de mínimaMínima de 8 °C o menosAnti-estrés antioxidante, carbohidratos fermentables, raíz, balance carbono-nitrógeno
Humedad alta y drenaje pobreHumidity of 78% or more with poor drainageDefensa contra exceso de humedad, defensa biológica, silicio, raíz
Low oxygenation in the rootLow or very low root oxygenationRaíz, defensa contra exceso de humedad, control de salinidad, silicio
Tierra pobreMateria orgánica de 2% o menosMicrobiología húmica, transporte mineral, raíz, proteína y aminoácidos
Salinidad altaWater conductivity of 1.4 mS/cm or moreControl de salinidad, vehículo de agua segura, transporte mineral
Indoor with limited lightIndoor growing with 250 µmol/m²/s of PAR light or lessMagnesio y clorofila, verdes minerales, balance carbono-nitrógeno
Greenhouse with heat and humidityGreenhouse with humidity of 75% or moreDefense against excess humidity, silicon, radiation management
Outdoors with windOutdoors with wind of 25 km/h or moreWind and evaporation, silicon, structural calcium, drought defense
High radiationPAR light of 900 µmol/m²/s or moreManagement of radiation, antioxidant pigments, electrolytes

These are the ten real contexts the engine evaluates. If your case meets one, those functions rise in priority; if it meets several, they are combined. If you do not declare a piece of data, the engine flags it as missing instead of inventing it.

What weighs most in Tulips

Heat near flowering: it shortens the flower cycle and wears down color; the engine reinforces hydration and antioxidants.
High humidity with poor drainage: activates moisture-excess defense and silicon, important because the root suffers.
Minimum of 8 °C or less in an active crop: activates anti-stress and carbohydrate support. We recommend opening the case when the bulb is already planted and rooting, not during cold storage.
High radiation: adds light and pigment management to protect color.
Wind outdoors: adds silicon and calcium for the stem.

Alertas de clima reales (pronóstico de 7 días)

Thunderstorm or hailstorm (according to the forecast)
Frost risk: temperatura de 1.5 °C o menos fuera de interior
Intense heat in open field: 35 °C or more
Possible greenhouse overheating (estimate of 36 °C or more; must be verified with a sensor)
Strong wind gusts: 50 km/h or more outdoors
Likely heavy rain: 10 mm or more with a probability of 60% or more
Possible pot heating: 30 °C or more with high radiation
Indoor condensation risk, based on your last saved measurement

What Yolia does with an alert. If there is an alert crítica, the system holds back the field application. If it is high, requires a balanced review and lowers the boost mode to “balanced”. The forecast comes from Open-Meteo (7 days, hourly) and the multi-year climate history of your location; a location confirmed on the map is needed for this to work.

Ventana de cosecha y corte de emergencia. Yolia calculates a theoretical date of the optimal point according to the real progress of your program and, depending on the destination (local, national or export), suggests cutting 0, 2 or 5 days earlier. If a serious alert (frost, storm, heavy rain, strong wind) falls on the final stretch, it recommends bringing the cut forward. Límite honesto: it is a calendar-based estimate, not a reading of your plant; Yolia does not yet analyze photos to decide the harvest point.

If a critical alert falls on the application week, Yolia holds back the field application. In a harvest timed to sale dates, that notice can help you decide to bring forward a cut before a frost, storm or strong gust.

Your climate changes your formula. See the plans and start with your location.

Tiempo en florero

Tulip post-harvest life: what depends on us and what does not

The tulip has a peculiarity: after cutting it keeps stretching in the water and curves toward the light. That is species biology and not a defect. Vase life depends on the variety, the cutting stage, the cold chain and the water, more than on anything applied during cultivation.

On the crop side, floriculture recognizes the importance of stem firmness and the plant's water status. In Yolia it is a declared objective and is evaluated against your control plants, not a promised number.

What determines days in the vase

Variedad y su sensibilidad al etileno.
Estadio de corte.
Cold chain and time to sale.
Vase water and keeping it clean.
Stem and bulb reserves.
Light and position of the vase.

Where Yolia can indeed help

Stem firmness: calcium and silicon.
Stable hydration before cutting.
Ventana de cosecha estimada y corte de emergencia ante clima.
Compare treated plants against control plants in your logbook.

What Yolia does not control

La cadena de frío.
The vase water.
Transport and handling.
La genética de la variedad.
Promise you a number of extra days.

If someone promises you “X more days in the vase” without comparing against a control plant of your own, be wary. What we can give you is the method to check it in your own batch.

How the modules are mixed

A schedule of 8 phases, not a single mix

A Yolia module is a unit of plant biochemistry: a controlled process (fermentation, infusion or extraction) with declared ingredients, times, pH and yield. The engine chooses modules from a catalog organized into four product families, measures how much load each phase can bear and places them at the right physiological moment. If two modules clash, they are not removed: they are separated into different phases.

6

Hour 60 · Defense and adaptation

Buffers against heat, cold, drought, humidity, wind, radiation and salinity.

7

Hour 72 · Reinforcement, replenishment and reserve mobilization

Replenishes, mobilizes reserves and sustains the plant's response.

8

Hour 96 · Conditional or separate correction

It is applied only when the condition or a measurement triggers it.

Reglas de compatibilidad reales

Strong nitrogen is blocked during flowering, fruiting, and ripening, unless a specialist reviews it.
Acidic and alkaline modules are prepared and diluted separately; their concentrates are never mixed.
Calcium and phosphate are kept in separate preparations until the final dilution, to reduce the risk of precipitation.
Retention and biofilm are blocked when there is waterlogging or severe low oxygenation at the root.
Two modules that should not go together but both add value are split into separate phases, at least 24 hours apart, instead of dropping one.
There are recognized synergies that the engine rewards: calcium with silicon, root with phosphorus and zinc, potassium with Brix, biosignals with amino acids, microbiology with mineral transport.

Límites de carga

Each phase has a maximum capacity; if a module exceeds it, it does not enter that phase.
In stress contexts (heat, cold, wind, humidity…), the capacity of each phase drops to as low as 28%.
The engine measures the risk of waste and saturation and keeps them below 92% saturation.
Goals active at once are limited to 3 or 4 (fewer on conservative routes).

Real examples of modules the engine can use in Tulips

They are real modules from the catalog. Which one is chosen in your case, in what phase and in what quantity depends on your plant, your stage, your climate and your logbook; the exact quantities are only shown in your formula, not on this page or in the Sandbox.

Logbook and evidence

Your logbook is what allows the formula to be adjusted

Without evidence, the system cannot correct anything: that is why the logbook is not decoration. You record notes and photos throughout the program and follow a few control plants —a representative group that you observe closely— to compare against the rest. With 1 plant, that whole plant is followed; up to 4 plants, all are followed; from 5 to 20, 3 are followed; from 21 to 500, 5; and from 501 to 5,000, 10.

Qué conviene anotar

Size and origin of the bulbs; planting date.
Cold history of the batch.
Percentage of sprouts emerged on fixed dates, by sector.
Height, thickness and fallen stems per control plant.
Photos with the same light and background to compare color.
Maximum and minimum temperature of the crop; heat, wind or rain events.
Date of each application: phase and module.
Días en florero de varas tratadas contra testigo.

The program has real milestones

Day 0: expediente y alcance confirmados.
Day 3: evidencia inicial y plantas de seguimiento.
Day: fórmula o estrategia científica inicial (en Diagnóstico, diagnóstico y ruta recomendada).
Between day 7 and 14: first response review.
Up to day 21: recalibration, if your plan includes it and the evidence justifies it.
At the end: cierre honesto del caso con un resultado declarado.

Recalibration, no silent changes. When it is recalibrated, all 21 engines are run again in full with your new evidence. The previous formula is never deleted and each change leaves a visible event that you can consult. There is a manual recalibration, an automatic notice (when uploading a note, it only recommends and requires at least 14 days since the last adjustment) and, only in Resin & Trichomes Lab, an automatic recalibration with a verified photo. The plans include 0 (Diagnosis), 1 (Targeted formula) or 3 (Advanced laboratory); an additional one requires a new quote.

For the tulip, the logbook is especially valuable because it allows separating what the bulb decided from what management changed. If two sectors turn out different with the same bulb, that is the signal the system can use.

Un caso real, paso a paso

The stage is running behind the calendar

This is one of the Sandbox's example cases: tulip in a greenhouse in Spain, 500 plants in 3 sectors, at pre-flowering and with high risk. The Sandbox uses the same engine, but never shows ingredients or doses.

1

Step 1 · Base calendar

It starts from the cut date you need.

2

Step 2 · Climate

The system cross-checks the forecast and the temperatures at your location.

3

Step 3 · Offset

The real stage is detected as running behind the calendar.

4

Step 4 · Lock

The system avoids applying goals that do not match the current stage.

5

Step 5 · New calendar

Timing is reorganized around the real stage, not the assumed date.

6

Step 6 · Closure

The case closes with a stated result and a summary of the evidence.

The stage is behind the calendar. What would the system do?

The safe choice

Reorganize timing and avoid applying outside the stage

It's the one the Sandbox marks as safe: respect the plant's real stage instead of forcing the calendar.

Sobrecarga

Increasing all goals without reviewing

Trying to make up time by loading the plant with more goals. The engine advises against it.

Uncertainty

Continue without evidence

Moving ahead without new data. The system asks for evidence before moving forward.

The lesson is that with bulbs, pushing against biology turns out worse. The system adapts to the plant, not the other way around.

Verdad completa

What we can do and what we will never promise

This section exists for a reason: we would rather you not sign up than sign up expecting something we cannot deliver.

What we do

Organize an 8-phase program with schedules and separate what must not be mixed.
Read the weather at your location and hold field applications during a critical alert.
Respect the plant's real stage and block vegetative nitrogen during flowering.
Scale the formula to your number of plants and monitor with control plants by sector.
Llevar bitácora y recalibrar dejando todo registrado.
Give you the step-by-step preparation with times, temperature, and target pH.

What we do not do or promise

Change the size or quality of the bulb you already bought.
Control the prior cold or the cold room.
Bringing forward or delaying flowering on its own.
Garantizar color, altura ni días de florero.
Replace sanitary management or a laboratory analysis when one is needed.
Promise results on a given date: each formula is marked as a prototype on the way to full experimental validation.
Pros y contras

Pros and cons of Tulips Lab, no sugarcoating

A favor

Honesty: we tell you from the start how much of the result is already decided by the bulb.
The tulip's own goals, such as uniform emergence and flowering calendar.
The system respects the plant's real stage instead of the assumed calendar.
The weather at your location factors into the calculation and can stop a poorly timed application.
Evidence with control plants and transparent recalibration: the previous version is never deleted.
Try free in the Sandbox with the same engine.
The price drops with fewer plants.

En contra o a considerar

The room for improvement may be smaller than in other specialties because the bulb determines so much.
It does not control temperature, cold or the cold chain, which matter most in forcing.
It's a prototype: it doesn't have full experimental validation yet.
Requiere preparar fermentos de 50 a 72 horas y llevar bitácora.
The included recalibrations are limited (0, 1 or 3 depending on the plan).
It's a one-time payment for the whole program: there are no monthly fees, but the total depends on how many days it lasts (more days, more to pay).

Compared with the rest of the world

An experienced tulip producer knows that the bulb and the cold rule; Yolia does not dispute that. What Yolia offers is something else: a system that orders the calendar by the real stage, reads your climate, blocks dangerous combinations and leaves evidence you can audit. We do not compare Yolia against other brands because we do not have independent tests to do so, and we do not yet have complete experimental validation in tulips.

If, after reading all this, it makes sense to you, the next step is to choose a tier.

Qué nivel elegir

Diagnosis, Targeted formula, or Advanced Laboratory in Tulips

All three use the same scientific engine; none is a reduced version. What changes is how much support we give you and what we deliver.

Scientific diagnosis

Entender antes de actuar

Review of the case, signals and context, identification of risks and missing data, and a clear recommendation for the next step. It does not include a formula. Useful if you don't know whether the problem is the bulb, the management or the nutrition.

Targeted formula

The most popular choice to get started

A complete formula for a defined goal (rooting or stem, for example), with logbook, control plants and a recalibration over 30 days.

Advanced laboratory

For several goals or lots that need more follow-up

Expanded evaluation, with 3 recalibrations over 45 days. For several coordinated goals (emergence, stem and calendar, for example) or large batches.

Preguntas

Preguntas frecuentes sobre Tulipanes Lab

Honestly: in tulips, flower size depends mostly on the bulb. Yolia can help the plant make better use of what it brings, but it does not change the bulb.
Yes. For gardens, the bulb reserves goal is especially useful because it aims for the plant to refill the bulb after flowering.
Yes. Declare the plant's real stage. The system works with the stage you give it, not with the planting date.
No. Flowering is driven by the temperature and cold that you manage; Yolia does not control them.
If you applied it in the last 2 weeks, the case's risk rises to high, the dose is adjusted, and two modules for precursor nutrition and nitrogenation are blocked.
The catalog modules are ferments, infusions and teas made with common ingredients. The final formula lists each ingredient and its amount for your batch.
Specialty, route, plant, stage, location confirmed on the map and number of plants are required. Climate, water and soil are optional but improve accuracy.
It depends on how many plants you have and how many objectives you activate. Below, on this same page, are the three plans with their prices.
