Jina na uainishaji

Probable heavy rain is a Yolia weather alert, classified as an outdoor climate risk and based on forecast. It combines the expected precipitation volume with the probability that it occurs, and does not describe a physiological process of the plant.

Ni nini

It is a warning that heavy rain is expected with a reasonable probability of occurring. Two distinct data points come into play: how much water is forecast and how reliable the forecast is. A high volume with low probability says little, just as high probability with light rain.

Mahali na jinsi ilivyochunguzwa

It is studied in meteorology and agricultural hydrology. Forecasts are generated with numerical models that simulate the atmosphere, and the probability of precipitation expresses the uncertainty of those models. They are verified by comparing what was forecast with rain gauges and radar.

Kwa nini ni muhimu kwa zao

Heavy rain can erode the soil, waterlog roots, wash away nutrients, damage leaves and fruits and favor diseases. Knowing in advance allows thinking about drainage, protection and scheduling of tasks, although the final decision depends on the terrain and the crop.

Physics — how it works

Intense precipitation occurs when a warm, humid air mass rises and cools, condensing a lot of vapor in a short time. If the intensity of the rain exceeds the speed at which the soil absorbs water, the excess runs over the surface and carries away particles.

Utaratibu wa kitendo

The impact of the drops breaks soil aggregates and forms crusts that reduce infiltration. The accumulated water displaces the air in the pores and the roots are left with little oxygen. In addition, splashes carry spores and bacteria from the soil to the lower leaves.

Hutokea wapi kwenye mmea

It acts on the aerial part, through the impact and wetting of foliage, flowers and fruits, and on the soil and root zone through saturation and runoff. Sloping terrain suffers erosion, and low or compacted areas suffer more waterlogging.

Jinsi inavyodhibitiwa

The plant does not control rain, but management can modulate its effect with drainage, ground cover, terrain structure and physical protection. Infiltration depends on texture, organic matter and compaction, which determine how much water the soil tolerates without damage.

Ni nini kinachouchochea/kuathiri

It depends on the season, fronts and storm systems, terrain and prior soil moisture. An already saturated soil responds worse to heavy rain than a dry one. Forecast uncertainty increases the further out the time frame.

Inaingiliana na michakato mingine gani

It interacts with the risk of fungal diseases, drainage, wind, temperature and scheduled irrigation, which should be reconsidered if rain is expected. It is also related to phenology, because flowering and fruit set are stages especially sensitive to water and impact.

Tofauti muhimu kati ya spishi za katalogi

Tolerance varies greatly. Crops with delicate fruits or open flowers suffer more from impact and excess moisture, and species sensitive to waterlogging tolerate saturation poorly. Some species from humid climates resist better. Each species in the catalog should be reviewed.

Jinsi inavyoonekana kwa vitendo

It is observed with a rain gauge, with records from nearby stations and with the local forecast. After the rain, persistent puddles, soil runoff, battered leaves and cracked fruits are checked. Comparing what was forecast with what was measured helps judge how reliable the source is.

Nini hutokea kukiwa na ziada

A strong storm can cause root suffocation, erosion, lodging, drop of flowers and fruits, cracks in fruits and outbreaks of rot. The damage depends on intensity, duration, drainage and the stage of the crop, and does not always appear immediately.

Jinsi Yolia anavyoitumia

Yolia activates the alert when 10 mm or more is expected and the probability is at least 60%. If the probability data is missing, it activates on volume alone. It does not apply in indoor mode. It marks it with medium confidence because it is based on a forecast and not on a measurement that has already occurred.

Makosa ya kawaida ya ufasiri

One mistake is to read probability as intensity: 60% does not mean moderate rain, but the possibility that it occurs. Another is to treat the warning as certainty. It is also forgotten that the same volume causes different damage depending on the soil, slope and stage of the crop.

Ushahidi na mipaka ya maarifa ya sasa

Forecasts a few days out are reasonably useful, but the exact place and time of a local storm are hard to predict. The probability of rain has different technical interpretations depending on the source, and the point volume can differ from what falls on your plot.

Mada na moduli zinazohusiana

It is related to weather forecast, probability of precipitation, drainage and waterlogging, soil erosion, risk of fungal diseases, scheduled irrigation, outdoor versus indoor environment and other climate alerts such as frost risk.
